MVR-III Counseling Department Attends State Conference
School counselors spent three days attending the Missouri School Counselor Association Conference. The counselors worked collaboratively to attend sessions on a variety of topics to better serve their students. These Difference Makers work closely with district students, families, and staff to make a difference in our community.
Health Science Occupation at Pacific High School
Health Science Occupations is a one-year program open to seniors who are serious about gaining a foundation for entry into the health-care field. Through classroom study, laboratory training, field trips, and guest speakers, students will become familiar with the theory/clinical aspects of health careers. Students rotate through approximately 35 different clinical sites to experience first-hand what each career has to offer. Community service is another essential part of the program.
Riverbend Middle School
Interested participants may contact Genetta Tomnitz at gtomnitz@mvr3.k12.mo.us.
Pacific Intermediate
Sixth grade beginning band students have been refining their techniques in their daily class. Students are working on reading music fluently and developing solid tone on their instrument. The sixth grade concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 12th at 1p.m. in the Pacific High School gymnasium.
Coleman Elementary's Playground Ceremony
On Tuesday, November 16, Coleman students welcomed their brand-new playground with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The students had been patiently watching the construction of the playground for over a month and were excited to try out the new equipment. Fourth grader Caleb Green had the honor of cutting the ribbon, commemorating the opening of the long-awaited structure.
Nike Scouts Support the Community
The Nike Elementary Food Drive theme this year was "Supporting Our Community". Nike Scouts really took the theme to the next level with their generous donations. For one week, students gathered food for the Food Drive which resulted in the most food collected in Nike Elementary history. Over 1,500 items were collected and will be distributed to 17 of Nike's own families. Fourth grade students collected the food, counted donations, and made charts to show how the drive was doing overall. After all items were compiled, student leaders separated and created shopping lists, as well as packed boxes to send out for families.
Caring means feeling a genuine concern for the well-being of others; it means being unselfish, having a charitable spirit, and being generous to others. The Nike Scout community displayed their caring support and worked collaboratively to support the community. The generosity is appreciated.

Zitzman Girls Run 5k
The Zitzman Girls on the Run team completed their 5k run at Forest Park on Saturday, November 13th. It was super cold and windy; however, the girls persevered with an excellent run. The Zitzman team met every Tuesday and Thursday since September working on lessons and building running stamina.
Girls on the Run lessons focus on building social, emotional, and physical skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits for life. Each season ends with a fun, non-competitive 5k. What an accomplishment! We are proud of the Zitzman Girls on the Run team.
Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center
Nike Elementary PreK participated in a Veteran's Day Program. Students performed a short musical concert and listened to stories from the Veterans. The students did well on their performance and listening skills during the assembly. Other PreK news included the memorization of the Pledge of the Allegiance as a morning routine for the students at Doris Hoffman.
