Alleviating Hunger
Before her husband fell at work, Heather says they were fine. She was managing her muscular dystrophy and excited that she was pregnant with her first child. But after his fall, she says, “There were a couple weeks where we really didn’t have any food. It was tough – you feel like you’re failing. To wake up and not know how and when I was going to eat was scary. I was really worried I wasn’t getting enough for the baby.”

Heather is one of many families who don't know where their next meal will come from.  Here in Newton, one out of every 8 households survives on less than $25,000 annually. And that's just Newton. For all of us that never have to worry about when we will eat next, it is time for us to make sure hunger is eradicated in our midst.
