Description

The volunteer patrollers of the Canadian Ski Patrol Algonquin Zone provide advanced first aid services for Adanac and Lively Ski Hills in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Volunteer ski patrollers are trained during the Fall training session.  You MUST be able to ski or snowboard well and you MUST pass the First Aid exam, practical exam and on snow skills to become a patroller. Registration is September 9 and 10, drop in from 6 till 8 pm at Adanac Ski Chalet, 744 Beatrice Crescent, Sudbury. Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED training will be three weekends (September 28 & 29, October 19 & 20, November 2 & 3). After passing the written exam (November 25 or online), there is a field day (November 23) with first aid scenarios followed by a practical test (November 27 or 28) of your abilities to assess, diagnose and treat first aid incidences.  Then comes toboggan training.  Once you can safely bring down a toboggan, you get your CSP jacket!!!! First time patrollers are always accompanied by an experienced ski patroller while patrolling.

 Costs

  • $230 covers the cost of the training as well as your “bum bag” fully equipped with first aid materials. First aid materials can be re-stocked from the patrol room at the ski hills.
  • Bursaries are available to select individuals to cover the cost of the first year.
