Some Windows 8.1 users have noted that power management options were missing from the computer after they installed a custom Windows 8.1 image. This occurred while using a nonoriginal equipment manufacturer (OEM) imaging process.
Editing the Connected Standby registry value resolved the issue.
Warning: The solution is a Windows Registry edit:
- Open the Start Menu if not already displayed by pressing the Windows Key or Windows Button.
- Type REGEDIT (do not click anything on the screen, begin typing when the start screen is present). Then tap or click regedit.exe on the menu search results. Click, or tap Yes at the User Account Control (UAC) menu prompt, then the Registry Editor should open.
- Browse the following registry key: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPower
- Double-Click CsEnabled in the right pane to change the value of the key CsEnabled from 1 to 0, tap or click OK and reboot.
Once rebooted the power options should be similar to this:
