The Graduate Center of the City University of New York is pleased to announce a call for participants for an NEH-funded institute.

With the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the CUNY Graduate Center will host an advanced digital humanities summer institute that will support scholars’ creation and design of OER publications and curricula that incorporate community-based concerns and foster collaborative knowledge creation with and for students.

Centered on social justice and inclusion of diverse perspectives, the Open Education Publishing Institute provides an opportunity for the development of OER publications that harness the energy of the digital humanities and the capacity of interactive digital publishing to empower students as co-creators of knowledge.

In June, a three-day in-person Intensive will introduce faculty fellows to the foundational principles of the institute: accessibility, anti-racist pedagogy, open pedagogy, social justice, and students as knowledge creators. During the Intensive, fellows will have the opportunity to develop interpersonal relationships and establish a community of practice that can provide continued support as they return to their home campuses.

Following the Intensive, participants will engage in virtual collaborative sessions through August to finalize the OER publication to be used in their courses in the Fall of 2024. A Project Showcase will take place in Spring 2025; faculty will share how their projects fostered student participation and knowledge production.
