Tallowood Mountain Rail Trail

The Tallowood Mountain Rail Trail proposal aims to connect the hinterland villages of the Coffs Coast using the disused 35km rail corridor from Ulong, through Lowanna to Glenreagh. This beautiful trail will pass through the proposed Great Koala National Park, revealing historic bridges and tunnels along the way. And it will be free to explore.

Our first step is clear the overgrown rail corridor so that surveyors and engineers can be brought in to begin the preparation tenders for design and construction of the rail trail.

About Us

The creation of the not-for-profit Tallowood Ventures Limited (TVL) came about after discussions between Glenreagh Mountain Railway Inc (GMR) and Woolgoolga Mountain Bike Club as well as with Coffs Harbour City Council, Clarence Valley Council and various State Government Departments.  The 35km section of rail corridor, deteriorated beyond repair for any future rail operations, was identified as having potential for rail trail development. Tallowood Ventures was formed in November 2022 with the aim of bringing the rail trail and other rail heritage activities into realisation.
